It is online! A dedicated article about EU-research for new mpox treatments in the latest edition of Horizon, the EU-Research & Innovation Magazine.

The article includes interviews with the coordinator of MPX-RESPONSE project and director of ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases Pr Yazdan Yazdanpanah, and Dr Mayara Secco, working on UNITY at the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases-Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Brazil.

Designing robust clinical trials in previously and newly affected countries, caring for patients with potentially high physical and psychosocial burden, treating vulnerable populations…The paper is a great synthesis to better understand challenges of mpox research and the issues of MPX-RESPONSE and VERDI, two major EU research projects for mpox, in response to the 2022 outbreak.

The international collaboration is crucial when dealing with infectious diseases

” If there is an epidemic somewhere, no matter where, we need to control it. That’s the only way to be prepared and the best way to protect both those at the epicentre of the outbreak and the European population.”

Pr Yazdan Yazdanpanah, coordinator of MPX-RESPONSE, director of ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases
